Papers and Canvas

We have carefully selected a set of fine art papers, photo papers, and canvas that we stock in-house. They are chosen primarily for their outstanding feel, color capabilities, and archival characteristics. We evaluate every type of media available with our own process to grade, test, and verify that it meets our printmaking standards. We also build our own custom color profiles for each paper and printer combination to ensure accurate color. Other papers can be special ordered if you have special requirements.

Canvas

Brilliance Textured Fine Art Canvas from Breathing Color: This medium-weight 17mil canvas has a wonderful look and feel. Made from 100% cotton, this canvas is water-resistant and acid free. Centuries of traditional use have proven the longevity and stability of 100% cotton canvas. Furthermore, the strength of long cotton fiber threads and linear elongation of long cotton fibers ensure stable printing and stretching results.The digital coating on the canvas is also acid free with a completely neutral pH providing excellent longevity/archivability characteristics. The ability to hold dense blacks combined with the bright white surface produce a wide gamut. The natural look is complete with random cotton seeds throughout the canvas. This canvas coats and stretches beautifully without cracking.

Brilliance II Smooth Photographic Canvas from Breathing Color: This heavy-weight 21mil canvas is ideally suited for fine art photographic reproduction and portraiture. Brilliance II Canvas is also commonly used for fine art reproduction and can be easily stretched over frames without cracking or tearing. This 100% cotton, seedless, bright white, water-resistant, professional photographic canvas produces unrivaled color density and superb image detail. In addition to the base canvas stock, the proprietary digital coating on Brilliance II Canvas is also acid free and has a completely neutral pH. Although it is common to find papers on the market today that have an acid free base, it is rare to find a paper or canvas with an acid free coating. This feature guarantees a significant increase in the longevity/archivability of the substrate.

Fine Art Papers

Elegance from Breathing Color: This 310g, water-resistant natural white watercolor paper is made from 100% cotton and is acid and lignin free. Unlike many other coated fine art papers, the coating used for Elegance is also acid free and has a completely neutral pH. This improves the longevity/archivability of the substrate. The paper is mould-made with a vellum cold-press surface. Has the same velvet finish, whiteness and feel as Somerset Velvet.

Somerset Photo Enhanced Textured: This 255g paper is the answer for artists and photographers who demand crisp photo quality reproductions without sacrificing the luxurious feel of fine art paper. Somerset Textured has the same weight and whiteness as Elegance above but with a heavier surface texture. The paper offers maximum color gamut with true color fidelity, exceptional image permanence, and universal printer compatibility. Mould-made in England by St. Cuthbert’s Mill-Inveresk PLC of 100% cotton, neutral pH, velvet or textured finish base stock with an inkjet receptive surface treatment to increase color gamut and maximize ink loads. It is an acid free archival quality paper. The paper is also buffered with calcium carbonate for protection from contaminants.

Sterling from Breathing Color: This 210g natural white paper has a smooth matte finish and is water-resistant. Sterling is made from 100% cotton fiber and is acid and lignin free. With excellent gamut, this paper is very similar to Epson Ultrasmooth. Excellent all around paper for artwork or photographs.

Condor BriteWhite by Hawk Mountain: This 300gsm bright white fine art paper is perfect for photographs and highly detailed fine art reproductions. Made from 100% cotton and acid free, this paper has excellent archival characteristics. It has a velvet cold-press finish, is coated on both sides, and has a wonderful feel in the hand.

Photo Matte by Legion: Legion Photo Matte is a bright white paper that delivers rich tones and professional quality prints. The paper is produced with a top "color receiver" layer that holds each drop of ink, yielding greater detail, sharper contours and beautiful colors. Photo Matte has a smooth matte finish and is a brighter white than Sterling above. This paper is machine made in the USA of 100% alpha cellulose (sulphite). The paper is neutral pH and acid-free. The special matte coating delivers rich tones and professional quality prints. Great for art prints or photographs.

Photo Papers

Premium Luster Photo Paper from Epson: This instant drying paper produces vivid, lifelike images that rival those of traditional silver halide prints. Premium Luster Photo Paper delivers highly saturated prints by offering maximum ink coverage and a high D-Max for true photographic reproductions. Its 10-mil RC base gives prints a photographic feel, and keeps the paper cockle-free. Ideal for use with all Epson Inks.

Premium Glossy Photo Paper from Epson: This paper offers the highest gloss level of any Epson resin coated photographic paper. Producing vivid life-like images that rival those of traditional silver halide prints, the ultra glossy finish, coupled with a 10 mil thickness and extremely wide color gamut, make this paper a favorite among discerning photographers. Its instant drying and non-cockling characteristics make use, handling, and display of the finished output trouble-free. It creates highly saturated prints by offering maximum ink coverage and high D-Max for true photographic reproductions. This paper can also be easily laminated to provide protection from light and moisture.
